Ursodeoxycholic acid (Ursadiol) reduces cholesterol absorption and is used to dissolve (cholesterol) gallstones. It decreases biliary cholesterol by suppressing hepatic synthesis and secretion of cholesterol and by inhibiting its intestinal absorption.
